80 Year Old Photography Business Takes A Look Back

From the article:

Flicking through a huge, ageing binder full of 1930s photos it was easy to see how hard-working photographer Edgar Tippleston had been.

It was 1931 when he first set up his photography firm and, 80 years later, his grandson Stuart is still running Tippleston Photography.

But the family still have the physical reminder of the firm’s first pictures, taken by Edgar, which include everything from family snaps to Cobblers match images of players and the crowd, visits by dignitaries, local plays – including one at the Royal, featuring Errol Flynn – and even pictures of the frozen river Nene during a particularly cold winter.

A closer look at depth of field

Learn more on how to achieve those nice, blurry backgrounds below

From the article:

A shallow depth of field is highly sought after due to it’s ability to separate the subject from it’s background and is found in many professional photographs. By now your probably know that larger apertures (f/2.8 and below) correlate to a shallower depth of field whereas small apertures (f/16 and above) will render almost the entire frame in focus. In this tutorial I will explain further factors into controlling depth of field, how much is too much and why different sensor and film sizes give different depths of field.

Successful Boudoir Studio in Glasgow

Two friends start and run a successful boudoir photography business and lingerie boutique!

From the article:

When Seona Misumi and Elizabeth Cummings set up their boudoir photography business they had one vision.

The girls dreamed of establishing a studio where women could celebrate their curves and boost their confidence.

So they created Beautifully Boudoir – a photography studio specialising in taking photos of women in the nude or dressed in lingerie and corsets.

Seona and Elizabeth were just out of college. They started the business with a £2000 loan and hired a tiny studio in Glasgow’s East End. Five years on, the business is booming. Their spacious studio is now in Glasgow’s leafy west end and they run a lingerie boutique.
